My mam has started to go to ballroom classes and she would like some latin music cd's for Easter but I have no idea about latin music, can anyone tell me the best CD's to use for dances like the Rumba etc. Thank you
ricky martin
check with the american ballroom assn. or even call the dance studio for advice on selections. i used to be involved in ballroom competition before i became a widower. my late wife and i loved it. i used to have a library filled with records and tapes. today i would likely have to take a few blank cd's down to the fred astaire studio, and see if someone would make copies of whats currently played for ballroom , whether student or older hoofer. look for selections in rumba, samba. mambo, pasa doble, salsa, meringue, and tlatin musicango.(us/brz)
You could start by going to amazon.com or bn.com (Barnes & Noble) and do a search on Latin ballroom music.
I just did it and came up with several CD titles (they all have various artists). Here are a few:
Rhythm Latino
Ballroom Latin Dance: Merengue
Latin Ballroom Dance: Latin Dance (also available at Target.com)
Ballroom Mix Vol. 1 (also includes standard tunes)
P.S. Snowflake is right that you should not just get any Latin artist, because much of that is made for listening. However, you can find the same titles the Web sites she provided list at Amazon or Barnes & Noble. There is no need to pay higher prices.
You can download ares regular ver.2.09 at www.download.com and once you install the p2p software you can choose the latin musicsearch tab and go to advanced search. From the genre tab you can choose the genre you desire and download any song you wanted.
You should get a CD from a ballroom website to be sure that the musics is suitable for dancing. Sure there are great Latin artists, but most of the music they create is for listening not for dancing. Go to or and get any CD from Latin category. Look for CDs from Casa Musica it is a good recording company. You DON'T want the general stuff that's sold at Target or on Amazon.
ok.
you should go to the local mexican store and ask them what they think and if that doesnt work you could wlays get her some salsa or meregue. i mean she would like tho dance that more than rrumba anyways
