Do you need to pay for an itunes account when you're only planning on using the free items?
no its completely free, you only have to pay if you're buying something
no u dont have to. u can create an account without using a credit card. but u will only be able to download free apps and podcasts.

instead of just creating an account, do it this way.
-open itunes
-open itunes store
-look up anyitunes account free app that u would want
-click get app
-it will then ask u to create an account.
-do so
-fill out all the info needed but make sure that the country is set to U,S
-when it reaches the part that asks for ur credit card info, look to the far right and u will see a section that says "none".
-click it and finish filling out the information needed.

when this is finish the app wiitunes accountll begin to download and u will be able to download tons of free apps and podcasts.

note that if u do not do it this way u won't be able to choose the "none" section.

no you dont but you need a credit card on file to download free items even though they r free, or u can just get an itunes gift card and redeem the code instead of usin credit card.
