I want to know if you had results and/or side effects?
I don't know what the Mayo Clinic diet is, but I tried the Atkins and the South Beach diet and I became very very ill. My blood sugar kept dropping and I was out of work for 2 1/2 months because of this.
If you want to lose weight, the best way to go is to limit your food intake, eat normal, drink a lot of water and excercise. Just eat limited portions and don't eat everytime you feel hungry. If you snack, snack on something like peanut butter crackers that is the most satisfying snack, I have found that peanut butter keeps my blood sugar in balance which in return controls my appetite.
If you eat fast food, select chicken instead of beef, skip the fries, or eat one of the salads. A lot of the fast food restaurantsmayo clinic atkins diet have delicious salads.
I learned this from a doctor. He said that a lot of times the fad diets do not work, they end up making people sick or they don't lose weight at all, or once they lose the weight and start eating normal, they gain twice as much weight right back and that's not good.
When we eat normal, we are not depriving ourselves of the need nutrients and our bodies do need the carbs. If we do not get enough of something in our bodies our bodies have a tendancy to make up for what we are lacking. If we do not get enough water, we began to retain water, if we are not getting enough carbs, our muscles start to turn to sugar.
These are just interesting facts I have learned. I can say that I don't think the fad diets are such a good idea. I have had bad emayo clinic atkins dietxperiences and I know of too many other people that have become ill from them as well.
I used to weigh 280 now I am down to 170 just by limiting food intake and excercising. There's no great magic to losing weight, it's just a matter of learning self control and ignoring those cravings. ;)

The Atkins diet severely restricts carbs and it makes you weak.You eat only proteins and some veggies.I guess it would be o.k. to use for a week or two to lose about 10 pounds.The best way is weight watchers or whats really good is nutrisystem.
i wouldnt do atkins, considering the guy who created it died from clogged artieries!!!
stay away from the atkins!!!
