What kind of music? Do you always listen, or is it just for certain parts?
I usually listen to instrumental and orchestral pieces, especially movie soundtracks. The mood of the music usually matches what kind of scene I'm writing. For example, I'll listen to fast-paced action pieces for chase and fight scenes, pretty piano music for love scenes, etc.
I like to listen to pop- jason derulo, britney spears, lady gaga etc. I do listen to music wen i write but sometimes its distraction and i cant concentrate lol..xoxo
Meh. Very lightly sometimes. And nothing I pay attention to. Maybe some trance music if I am writing a club scene or something.
Yay! Someone else does that! I love Hans Zimmer music, he is soo good with orchestras, I write listening to him, Steve jablonsky, Harry gregson-Williams, and a Clint mansell song, requiem for a dream
I think it's better to not listen to anything. Scientifically, people think much better when it's quiet
Never, but I can see how it might help. A lot of times if I am reading and there is music playing it makes it seem more relaisitc, like I am there. Feeling like that can only help your writing, so maybe it is a good idea. I think I will try it. Just have to find the listen to musicright song for different scenes. Kind of like a movie.
No. It distracts me. Usually when I write I say the words in my head so it's as if someone is telling me the story. When I'm not concentrating and listening to my thoughts, my writing starts to suck.
Only classical music. Anything else is too distracting.
Sometimes, but I prefer utter silence and solitude. Makes me concertrate the better.
Sometimes I do but mostly I don't. My writing teacher told me that songs with words can dictate your though process and you can only focus on the words of the song. I stopped listening to music and my work improved noticeably. One thing I guess you could do if you hate silence or the sound of typing or something is listen to wordless music (Though listen to something that's moderate and comfortable. Don't listen to instrumental metal or depressing piano melodies because those will change the moods of your work). Good luck!
ALWAYS. I always love listening to music while I write. Music brings such an inspiration :D I listen to all genres of music, and i usually put my music player on shuffle mode to see what i get. it's best to listen to lyricless music, so that the words can't confuse you. other times, however, thlisten to musice lyrics of a song could be your entire inspiration.
I love listening to music as i write, and i encourge everyone to try. :D
Yes.
I listen to Indie music when I write
Dallas Green
Elliott Smith
Agnes Obel
Anya Marina
Coldplay
etc etc
I definitely listen to music.... mostly post-rock and instrumentals. I've been really getting into mathrock lately too... and of course, I have to have cheesy love songs for the romantic over-the-top scenes.
Actually, now that I really think about it, just whatever I have in iTunes - which is mostly post-rock.
Some bands that seem that resonate most with me: 65daysofstatic, Russian Circles, and Sigur Ros. Their music is the most inspirational out of all of the stuff I have.
I don't really like listening to movie soundtracks - because iTunes is always set on shuffle for me, and I find it kinda hard to concentrate when I'm trying to write a scene where a guy's supposed to be murdered in the worst way possible and there's pretty piano music going on in the background. And vice versa.
It's probably just me. Music influences a lot, if not all, of what I write.
